Carnival of Cities #2, Metro World

Welcome to Home Turf Media and the second Carnival of Cities.  Feedback from our first Carnival was very positive, so pull up a browser and let’s gaze at some more city lights….

** Cities in the Americas **

Silicon Valley, California, USA    Silicon Valley Blogger lives near San Jose.  He writes about Outsourcing Romance For $100,000 A Year: Love And Matchmaking 2.0 at The Digerati Life, saying, “Matchmaking in Silicon Valley is a big business.”  Hey geeks, get out from behind the computers, OK?

Seattle, Washington, USA   Pam Mandel presents the Year of the Pig at her always-interesting blog Nerd’s Eye View; showing us how to explore Seattle’s International District on the Lunar New Year. This year it’s (”Oink!”) – the Year of the Pig.

San Diego, California, USA   Brian presents How to Get Home Quicker at The San Diego Beat.  His time-saving, traffic-beating tips for clogged Southern California roadways can help anyone who deals with auto congestion.

Gainesville, Florida, USA   What do they do in this town besides watch the University of Florida win basketball and football national championships?  Why, they get blown away at the Gatornationals drag races! Sheila at Edmunds.com’s The Driving Woman describes the sights and sounds of 7000 pounds of horsepower at play.

Athens, Texas, USA   CyberCelt says we all need to relax and attend Fly Fish Texas on March 3, 2007.  All the details are posted at her Texas RV Travel Blog; bet you didn’t know that they have fly-fishing southeast of Dallas.

Seattle, Washington, USA   Mary Jo Manzanares says you can sample the wares of over forty Walla Walla Washington wineries (say that three times quickly) at A Little Taste of The Grape, posted at The Seattle Traveler.

Washington, District of Columbia, USA   Typical of the great events going on all the time in the DC metro area, Jon Rochetti says we can meet the famous Tuskegee Airmen posted at The DC Traveler – Washington DC travel & tourism information

Prescott, Arizona, USA   GrannyJ presents unexpected pictures on her blog Walking Prescott, saying, “Prescott is a small city in the Arizona mountains, but there are always surprising sights if you are looking for them while you are out walking.”

Los Angeles, California, USA   Tannaz gives food shopping tips at Ethnic Markets: Feel worldly for cheap, posted at Wisebread.  Yes, there’s a lot more to LA food than Spago.

Oahu, Hawaii, USA   LocalGirl is finding inspiration in the lovely sights of Waikiki, complete with music, at her blog Local Girl.  Hawaii calls; you should go enjoy some aloha.

** Cities in Europe **

Bellinzona, Switzerland    Jul describes the beautiful Italian-tinged bellissima Bellinzona in her musings on This non-American Life.

London, UK   Kathy Maister gives the scoop on London eats at startcooking.com, saying, “When we visit London, theater is our first love, and traditional English food is our second. Yes, I know for years England has had a dreadful reputation concerning food — but that has all changed.”

Oslo, Norway   Seafarer writes about urban fun and natural beauty in Oslo, Norway posted at Family Travel.   Remember, the brunost at breakfast is NOT peanut butter.

** Cities in Asia **

Hanoi, Vietnam   John Hill writes about A Trip to Hanoi Vietnam at his blog Universe Of Success; the water puppets and Halong Bay sound wonderful.

That concludes this edition; thanks for visiting.  Our next deadline is 2 p.m. Eastern on Sunday March 4th 2007, to publish Monday, March 5th. Submit your best recent city-related blog post using our carnival submission form.
